Christian and Catholic Counseling
What is Christian counseling? At Compassionate Counseling Services, we provide Christian, Catholic and spiritual counseling to those that desire to integrate their unique faith belief.
Catholic counseling is the integration of the Catholic faith such as the use of scripture and highlighting the gifts of the sacraments to use for growth in faith and healing.
The integration of spiritual or Christian treatment may include praying with the client, leading the client in healing prayer, discussing practical steps to grow in their definition of Faith. At Compassionate Counseling we provide Christian counseling to clients that profess their belief in God and their savior Jesus Christ.
Michelle Muff is Catholic and Dr. Dana Houck is Presbyterian. We work with a variety of faiths and religions and are not limited by our unique belief but honor and respect the client’s unique belief system. Michelle Muff relates,
“My Catholic Christian, belief is a foundation of my life and serves as a guide to the meaning and purpose of my life I pray for each and every client during my daily prayer time. Christ is the access and foundation of my life and it is from Him that I receive the gift of prayer, listening, and wisdom to guide others.
I have known the saving power of Christ in my life. I know that He has saved me from many temptations and that God has intervened in miraculous ways in my life several times. I have not been removed from suffering, but it is through my suffering that I have learned to value and love my Savior.
Through the course of my young life, I have witnessed the miraculous healing of my daughter who at age 3 almost died from a serious disease. I have overcome the pain of divorce and lived through my x-husband’s death. I have suffered economic loss and had to move due to the loss of my home twice. This is just a small portion of my life and my greatest joy has been to sit at the throne of grace in prayer and know my savior Jesus Christ. I rejoice even in the midst of what the world would call suffering because at any given movement I can dance with Christ in Joy, and experience Christ’s grace that he gives to all of us on our journey of life.”
At Compassionate Counseling we hire a therapist that lives their faith, prays with their clients and integrates faith into each counseling session. We believe that faith and spiritual beliefs can aid each client in their journey of life. We integrate mental health treatment for the body, the mind and the soul.
Whatever issues or problems you present our therapist proclaim hope for the hopeless, joy in the midst of sorrow and love that eradicates loneliness for all circumstances.
St. Paul says:
“In Romans 8:35-39 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written: “For your sake, we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[a] 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[b] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. New International Version (NIV)”
